NWSL Opening Day

It’s NWSL Opening Day, as our favorite soccer players lace up their boots and take to the field. The league has been busy these last few weeks, trying to increase the NWSL’s media and broadcasting presence. As we have seen so far, the NWSL’s efforts are certainly paying off.

This February, the NWSL signed a 3-year deal with their new official sponsor and broadcast partner Lifetime Network. Lifetime is set to air Game of the Week every Saturday, including a 30 minute pregame show. All other games will be live streamed through both the revamped NWSL website (which now features amazing content on all the teams) and the free Go90 app. With the league in its fifth season, these recent developments points to the increasing popularity of the league and increasing equity of broadcasting.

The teams will play a 24 game schedule, with 12 home and 12 away games. Additionally, the new schedule allows teams to play 11 of their 12 home games during the weekends, and no team will play more than 2 mid-week matches.

This week’s schedule of games is as follows:

Houston Dash vs Chicago Red Stars – 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 15th

Portland Thorns FC vs Orlando Pride – 12:00 p.m. Saturday, April 15th
